Dark Veil Society proudly announces the 11 September 2026 release of Jack Finn’s harrowing folk horror novel, He Who Has Done Evil.
In 1914, Irish policeman Woodrow Tierney joins the British war effort and is sent to Antwerp. Before he ever reaches the front lines, he is handed a secret task: interrogate two veterans of the Anglo-Zulu War who insist a Zulu demon is hunting down the last survivors of the Battle of Rorke’s Drift, one by one.
As the German assault on Antwerp intensifies, Woodrow questions the men in the ammunition vaults beneath the fort’s gun turrets. Their account of the demon begins to mirror the nightmares that have been tormenting him — and the deeper he digs, the less certain he becomes that he is the one asking the questions.
Told through letters, transcripts, and emails, and framed by a present-day discovery in the Imperial Conflicts Archive in London, He Who Has Done Evil follows Woodrow as the siege collapses around him and a past he cannot escape closes in. It is a relentless, atmospheric fusion of historical fiction and supernatural terror, in which colonial sins return with teeth and claws to prove that the ghosts of empire do not rest. They hunt.
Jack Finn is a dark fantasy and folk horror author and Navy veteran living in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest with his wife and two fiendishly clever dogs. He is a lifelong believer that the Tooth Fairy proves you can trade body parts for cold, hard cash.
Early praise from readers:
Finn has written an extraordinary novel … An entertaining and thought provoking piece of work. Make sure it goes on your “To Be read” list.
~ Anthony Lee Head (5 stars)
